3.4.2. Creating link block paths

The newly created link block pathbuilder can be found at Configuration → Pathbuilders → WissKI Linkblock PB → Edit
The pathbuilder works similar to the "normal" pathbuilder. Paths are created for a main group (=mask), which should display information from other main groups.
Sequence using the example "Manufacturer":
Persons should be shown which objects they have produced. The data was collected in the context of the collection object by entering a specific person name under "Manufacturer". Now it is desired that in the context of the person it is shown which objects he has produced without explicitly entering this information again. This avoids data redundancy.

  1. Step:
    First, select an existing bundle to which the link block paths are to be assigned, in this case the bundle "Persons". To do this, click on "+Add existing path" in the link block Pathbuilder:

    Then the bundle/group already created for the main mask of the persons is selected from a dropdown menu containing all bundles/groups in the system:

    Then select "Person", as the objects created by the person are to be displayed.
    Attention: sometimes names of groups are assigned twice. Only the correct main bundle is displayed in the pathbuilder after the selection with bold title! If the path title is written in normal bold font, it is another path which is also called "Person" etc..
    If the wrong bundle was selected, it can be deleted again. To do this, click on the arrow to the right of the Edit button and then select it:
    Never click on "delete path completely", as this is a path already selected from existing paths. If you delete it completely, it also disappears in the other pathbuilders in the system.

  2. Step:
    Once the correct group has been found, a new link block path can be modelled:
    Click on "add path
    Then model:
    E21 Person -> P14i carried out -> E12 Production -> P108 has produced -> S1 Colelction Object -> P38 has preferred Identifier ->S3 Inventory Number -> P3 has note
    Disambiguation is set to the instance to whose data pool you want to reference. Since objects that are identified by an inventory number are to be displayed in this case, the disambiguation is set to "S1 Collection Object":

    Then save; the basic setting "do not connect a field" remains unchanged:
    Then indent the newly created path under the "Person" group,

    Activate path (enable check mark) and then save -> be sure to observe! ALWAYS click "Save without form generation", not "Save and generate bundles and fields" if available.
    Then save via "Save without form generation".
  3. Step:
    Check if everything worked out; search for a person who created an object, e.g. by clicking on advanced search via FIND and selecting the collection object; then the fields within the collection object mask open, which can now be searched. Then select the field "Manufacturer (Person)" and set the filter setting "contains" to "not empty"; then start the search;
    Select a data record from the hit list, open it and click on the manufacturer; then you get to a personal data record where the link block appears on the right and the respective objects are listed under "Manufacturer of object".

Note when modelling paths for the link block:

  • "+Add existing path" → First, the mask in which the new path is to be displayed must be selected and not regenerated.
  • the modeling itself works like for "normal" paths
  • Default setting "do not connect a field" remains
  • after creating and arranging the path → Save without form generation
