WissKI User Meeting 2024 Review

The WissKI User Meeting 2024 (WAT24) was held on November 20-21 in Nuremberg, attracting 70 participants. The event, moderated by Robert Nasarek, featured a keynote by Harald Sack on "Knowledge (Graph) Driven Research Data Management in the Age of LLMs," highlighting the role of knowledge graphs and LLMs in research data management. Discussions included the integration of LLMs with ontologies and the NFDI4Culture Knowledge Graph. Updates on Drupal's Starshot initiative and the release of Drupal 11 compatible WissKI 4.0 were shared, alongside innovations like the Open Graph Database. The SODa project was introduced, focusing on improving university collections management in Germany, emphasizing data literacy and FAIR principles. The meeting also covered the development of a Semantic Co-Working Space, the work of the WissKI Lab at FAU, and new tools like TIPSY for visualizing Pathbuilders. Presentations addressed data integration in the NFDI4Objects project, the use of WissKI for anatomy collections, and the challenges of connecting TEI-based digital editions with WissKI. Workshops and a World Café provided practical insights, while projects like CoVHer and WissKI for Africa Multiple showcased WissKI's application in diverse fields. The VIGO project "WissKI Barrels" aims to create specialized WissKI systems for various domains. The event concluded with a WissKI World Café for open discussions and plans for the next meeting in November 2025.
